Volunteer Visiting Buddies
Are you looking for a unique and fulfilling volunteer opportunity?
Visiting Buddies is seeking volunteers for once a week social visits with isolated seniors throughout the Musquodoboit Valley. Volunteers are matched with an older adult who they will visit at home or accompany in the community. The time commitment is 2-3 hours per week over a 6 month period.

The Well-Being HUB is a network of community and health providers who work collaboratively to provide the right care to support residents to take charge of their mental, physical and spiritual health. The network works to navigate, educate, coordinate and facilitate access to existing programs and services and create new ones to fill identified gaps.

Musquodoboit Valley Community Fund Volunteers
We're seeking 6–8 visionary leaders to become founding Board Members of a new Musquodoboit Valley Community Fund, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia. This is your chance to help direct local investments, attract philanthropic support from across the province—and beyond—and make a lasting impact close to home. CFNS will manage the finances and tax receipting; you help decide how the funds are used locally.
MVCA Business Group Lead
Are you passionate about building strong local economies and fostering community connections? As a volunteer leading efforts to unite local businesses, you’ll play a key role in bringing business owners together to collaborate, share resources, and create opportunities for mutual growth. This role involves reaching out to local entrepreneurs, organizing networking events or initiatives, and encouraging partnerships that benefit both the business community and the wider public. Your leadership will help strengthen the local economy, enhance community engagement, and make a lasting impact where it matters most.
Strong communication, networking, and organizational skills, along with a collaborative mindset and a passion for community and economic development, are essential for this role.

The Musquodoboit Valley Communities Association is a new organization with a vision to foster unity and cooperation among residents, businesses, non-profits, and institutions within the community. By working together, we would seek to improve the quality of life for all residents because “a great place to live is a great place to visit”. The Association is currently made up of four working groups, focusing on business, non-profits, tourism, and civics & culture.
Braeside Home for Special Care - Board members
We are currently seeking new members to join the Board. If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and contributing to your community, we encourage you to consider this rewarding opportunity. Board members are expected to actively contribute their insights, ask thoughtful questions, and help guide the organization through informed, strategic decision-making that aligns with the home’s mission and long-term goals.
Board members at Braeside Home for Special Care should have a genuine commitment to supporting seniors and long-term care, along with the ability to think strategically, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively. Familiarity with basic financial information, governance, or healthcare is helpful. Members should be comfortable reviewing materials, attending four meetings per year, and contributing thoughtfully to discussions about programs, staffing, and finances. Most importantly, board members must act with integrity, respect confidentiality, and always keep the well-being of residents at the heart of their decisions.

Braeside Home for Special Care is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors made up of community volunteers—some of whom have been with us since our doors first opened. This committed group works closely with staff to ensure the home runs smoothly while continuing to provide safe, high-quality care for our 29 residents.
Musquodoboit Valley Website Content & Development Team
We’re seeking 2–3 enthusiastic volunteers to join the Musquodoboit Valley Website Content & Development Team. This role involves helping keep the website up to date with relevant community information, improving its content and structure, and supporting its growth to better serve residents and visitors. Most of the work can be done remotely on your own schedule, with occasional team check-ins to coordinate and share ideas.
No technical expertise is required—just a passion for community engagement and a willingness to contribute. Skills like writing, editing, website management (e.g., WordPress), and knowledge of the Musquodoboit Valley are a plus but not essential. This is a great chance to make a meaningful impact while connecting with your community.

Musquodoboit Valley Newsletter Team
Join our team of volunteers dedicated to producing a bi-monthly community newsletter for the Musquodoboit Valley. Together, we plan, write, edit, and format each issue to ensure it’s clear, engaging, and delivered on time.
The team also supports sponsorship efforts by building relationships with local businesses and organizations interested in advertising or contributing. Whether you bring skills in writing, design, communications, or community outreach—or just a willingness to pitch in—there’s a place for you on this collaborative and creative team.
